The locally-owned independent roaster True North Coffee is fair trade certified and the owners Maine and John focus their attention on the details that distinguish a good cup of coffee from a memorable cup of coffee: True North selects only the finest Arabica coffees available anywhere. Varietals are all roasted separately, in small batches, and cooled quickly to insure the retention of each bean’s natural sugar.
Maine and John have created a Lake City Blend just for us. This coffee is a blend of several medium roasted coffees, which offer a substantial yet friendly earthiness, balanced by a finish that is delightfully bright, with a subtle hint of sweet caramel. Come in and try a cup!
A Social Gathering Around Coffee

Because they weren’t welcome in public coffeehouses, the ladies gathered together in small groups at one another’s houses to sip coffee and talk. A mid-afternoon gathering of women thus became to be known as a Kaffeeklatsch – a combination of “kaffee,” the German word for coffee, and “klatsch,” or gossip.
Once the coffee habit had become firmly entrenched in German culture, no government bans – and no prohibitions against women in coffeehouses – could destroy Germany’s love of the beverage.”
